Preparing for a CNA InterviewIf you are interested in joining the healthcare industry one of the best entry level positions you can pursue is a certified nursing assistant. This role will teach you plenty about patient care, the inner-workings of a hospital, clinic or extended care facility and you will learn plenty about medicine and other industry specifics. Becoming a CNA could be the first step you take in becoming a lifelong healthcare professional. The first step is attending a great CNA training school. The second is to learn how to prepare for a CNA job interview. These are just a few of the industry specific questions that you may be asked during an interview for a CNA position at a hospital, elderly care facility, hospice center or other location where CNAs are regularly employed. Study the questions and carefully craft your answers to best suit the location you’re interviewing for.

Why do you want to be a CNA?

Make sure you mention that your passionate about helping others and that you have always wanted to join the medical field. Provide any examples of times where you cared for a relative or friend who was sick and how it made you feel.

What has prepared you to be a CNA?

This is your chance to talk about how you excelled in school. Discuss any awards your received and mention your excellent GPA! Any other examples you can use about past experiences will fit this question.

Give an example about how you dealt with a difficult patient.

Since this is likely your first interview and you may not have worked with any actual patients, talk about something that was difficult for you in school and how you overcame it.

How do you handle seeing someone such as a doctor or nurse not doing their job correctly?

The interviewer wants to find out if you have the client’s best interest at heart. Think about a few scenarios, such as if a patient is at risk or not. If a patient is not at risk consider just talking to the person about what they were doing, if a patient is at risk then you should report them to a hospital or clinic manager.

These are just a couple major questions that you should prepare for on your journey to beginning a career as a CNA. You will be taught how to answer these questions and more while going through CNA training. If you’re interested in CNA training in Kansas City, MO, contact MEDS CNA.
